In this paper,the spatial range of the Central Plains is defined as the majority of Henan,the south of Hebei and the southeast of Shanxi,and the Hetao region as the central and southern part of the present Inner Mongolia.The time range of the study of Tang tombs in Central Plains ends from 618 AD to 907 AD.The collection of excavation reports from the founding of the People's Republic of China to 2017,the Central Plains region excavated a total of 647 tombs,Hetao region excavated a total of 234 tombs.According to the tombs in the Central Plains of Tang Dynasty,the tombs are classified as earth cave tombs,brick tombs,earth pits brick tombs and stone tombs.Among them,there are shovel-shaped tombs,strip tombs,knife tombs,circular tombs and multi-chamber tombs;main types of brick tombs have shovel-shaped tombs and circular tombs;tukeng brick room tombs have shovel-shaped tombs and strip tombs;and earth-pit brick rooms tombs have strip-shaped tombs and sabre-shaped tombs.According to the classification of the Tang Dynasty and the shape types of the Tang tombs in the Central Plains,the tombs of the Tang Dynasty in the Central Plains are divided into two periods.The first stage of the Tang Dynasty is the earthen cave tomb and the brick chamber tomb in the early period of Tang Dynasty,that is,from 618 AD to the 740 s of the 8th century.In the second period of Tang Dynasty,from 740 s to 907,the tombs of the earth cave were the main one,and the tombs of brick rooms were few.Secondly,the Tang Dynasty tombs in the Central Plains area are divided into Luoyang Central District,South Henan and North Hebei region,and South Henan Province and Southeast Shanxi region.The zoning characteristics of the above three regions are discussed respectively.The central area of Luoyang is dominated by earth cave tombs,and the brick chamber tombs are mainly used in the southeast of Shanxi.There are abundant types of stone tombs in the southern part of Hebei Province,and circular tombs are found in the area.In this paper,the tombs in Hetao area of Tang Dynasty are divided into earth cave tombs and brick tombs.The tombs of Tudong tombs include shovel-shaped tombs,strip tombs,knife tombs and circular tombs,while brick tombs have shovel-shaped tombs and circular tombs.On the basis of classification,the Tang Dynasty tombs in Hetao area were divided into two phases,the first phase of which was less in number,shoveled tombs,brick tombs,and strip tombs.The second stage is a brick tomb,mostly a circular tomb.In this paper,the shape of Tang tombs in Central Plains and Hetao is compared.In the first phase,the two regions have common ground.There are earth-cave tombs and brick tombs,shovel-shaped tombs and knife tombs.The second phase of the Central Plains mainly has earth-cave tombs,Hetao mainly brick tomb.This period round tomb brick tomb found in the Hetao area,the Central Plains region was not found.The origin and direction of Tang Dynasty tombs in Central Plains and Hetao are discussed,and the origin and destination of Tang Dynasty tombs in Central Plains and Hetao are analyzed respectively.Compared with the tombs of the Northern Dynasty and the Sui Dynasty,the tombs of the first period of the Tang Dynasty and of the Northern and Sui dynasties have all taken on the characteristics of the tombs of the previous dynasties,and the shovel-shaped tombs of the Hetao area,the tombs of the shovel-shaped earth holes and the tombs of the brick rooms in the Central Plains.Strip-shaped earth-hole tombs and shovel-shaped brick tombs originated from the Northern Wei Dynasty tombs.Compared with the tombs of the five dynasties in the second stage,the shovel-shaped tombs and the knife tombs had an impact on the tombs of the five dynasties in the Central Plains,and the circular tombs continued to develop in the Hetao area during the five dynasties.
