Prison Police Working Pressure Influencing Factors And Their Relationship

Considering the lack of research about jail police officers, this study researched the job stress of jail police officers from Jiangsu province using questionnaire. The research took stress as a process. Generally speaking, the process of stress includes three factors: stressors, mediator of stress, consequence of stress. Stressors were measured by using "Questionnaire of Stressors of Jail Police Officers" developed by Luo Dahua etc. In this paper, the mediator included social support, cognition appraisal and coping. Dependent variable was the consequence of stress.The conclusion of this paper includes: (1) This study established Pressure Symptom Questionnaire and revised Appraisal Questionnaire .The reliability and validity of the two questionnaires were very high.(2) The arising frequency of stressors of Jiangsu province is higher than national level. The ranking of stressors of Jiangsu is different from the nation. And stressors of Jiangsu jail police officers were mostly job-related problems. Seeing from the infection of stressors to jail police officers, the infection of stressor whose arising frequency was higher was bigger.(3) The job stress of Jiangsu jail police officers is higher than the national level, while it doesn't get to significant level (T= 1.131. p>0.05 ) . According to the difference test of average, the stress of objects differed significantly in part of demography variables, but doesn't in others.(4) The relevant research found that the stress of objects had significant positive correlation with Pressure symptom questionnaire and its every dimensions.(5) Every pressure symptom of objects differed obviously in some demography variables. By comparing and analysis, the result showed that it was more sensitive to judge stress using pressure symptom.(6) Significant relationships were found among independent variable, dependent variable and mediator variable. And the results were mainly compatible with research hypothesis.(7) Stressors were the main cause that led to pressure symptom. Secondly, stressors also affected pressure symptom by influencing mediator variables. Among them, mediating effect of cognition appraisal was the biggest, mediating effect of social support was in the middle, and mediating effect of coping was smallest.
