Rational-Emotive Therapy is a kind of mental therapy technique in the sixties of the 20th century. RET is a kind of treatment method. Its main purpose is changing people's unreasonable idea and viewpoint to adjust the unhealthy motion and behaviors, overcome the mental obstacle in order to promote people's health of body and mental according to the theoretical hypothesis that cognition process will affect people's emotion and behavior with the interfering technique of cognition and behaviors. At present, it has become a kind of the most quick, valid and extensively useful mental treatment method. The main reason is most checking against researches confirms that it is valid but quick.Social public has already concerned the university students' mental health education extensively at present.The theoretical research and practical investigation on this aspect are carrying on extensively. However, based on current condition of mental health and its education of university students, that we can find easily the university student's mental health education should fix attention on the development and the self- education of the student is emotional disturbance.According to this, this research tries to develop a set of cognition guidance which regards Rational-Emotive Therapy theory as leading thought and combs its technique and method for contents aiming at the university students in order to improve the mental health condition of the university student and attain the purpose of self-education.This research adopts the design of a quasi-experimental research: organising one classe by random sample, and carrying on emotional intervenor to volunteers. The experiment adopts testing method, interviewing method and self-reports in the beginning and ending of experiment to verify its result.The result of experiment shows: the level of experimental-group's mental health has been promoted by cognition guidance. Self-reports and interview show that the situation of member's mental health of experimental-group has been promoted also.We can draw some conclusions from above:It is important to pay attention to cultivate university student's scientific and healthy cognition method in the mental health education of university. At the same time, it gives us some enlightenment that we must cultivate healthy cognition model and teaches students to analyze problem with scientific and objective standpoint.The technique and methods of Rational - Emotive Therapy theories, to be a kind of methodology guide of universal mental health education, take a certain effect to cultivate ability of self-regulation, to improve and raise the mental healthy level. Therefore, it is effective and workable to apple Rational-Emotive Therapy to mental health education in university, and should be taken into the expansion and applied in practice.
