From the time when Se-Jong Emperor invented Korean to the last stage of the Cho-Seon dynasty, Korean was used side by side with Chinese, which is given priority. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century when Korean was used most often. This dissertation, with Ha dam fa jeok rok as research object, probes into the historical and docomentary value of the book, quoting various materials to explain the words in it and debating on Nam-man seong's Korean version of the book.The dissertation is divided into five parts. The introductory part is about the development of Korean characters and language and the research purpose and project of this essay. The first chapter mainly introduces the book Ha dam fa jeok rok and its author. The second chapter analyzes the historical value of this book from such aspects as the domestic and foreign affairs, society and ethics, and historical characters and facts in the Cho-Seon dynasty. The next chapter, through the analysis of some words in the book and combination of various authorative data to explain and argue about them, probes into the linguistic value of the book. The last chapter is a conclusion of the essay.
