Ancient Spring and Autumn period is an important stage of Ancient Chinese languagedevelopment,and many talking literatures have been completed. These works basically reflectedthe characters of ancient oral Chinese and written language in the Pre-Qin period. Meng-zi(孟子)is the more lengthy and more mature book in these literatures, so it is a good language materialchoice to studythe Pre-Qin language.In this paper ,the conjunction of Meng-zi(孟子) is the research subject. In the first chaptersome relevant questions about conjunction are discussed, Several points of own views are takenout on the basis of pioneer studies, including added content for the definition of conjunction, thedistinction between conjunction and preposition, the inner problems of conjunction demarcationissues, and introduce another article to the modern Chinese study, with the title of"the typicaland atypical parts of speech", which provides the theoretical basis and support for the followingresearch.In the second chapter,a quantifiable statistics is done on the method to quantify ofmonosyllable conjunction and compound syllabic conjunction in Meng-zi(孟子), and the resultsis revealed by table form, a list of the times and the frequency of the conjunction. The detailresearch to the monosyllable conjunction of Meng-zi(孟子) from the location and objection ofconjunction in the third chapter, giving some typical sample for each category .In the fourthChapter all the monosyllable conjunction are analyzed and categorized according to semantic,and it is divided into 10 types, that is tied conjunction, followed conjunction, causal conjunction,progressive conjunction, adapter conjunction, choice conjunction, concessions Conjunction , thepurpose of conjunctions, modified and restrictions conjunctions.Finally, make a list to summaryall of monosyllable conjunction. In Chapter V, analysis method of an individual event is adoptedfor the few number of compound syllable conjunction in Meng-zi(孟子), arrangement is alsoperformed from the location of the connection and on the target of a connection and the meaningof a word.The form is always expressed in the end and generalization is also performed.
