To some extent, the revival of Chinese calligraphy is expressed through calligraphy exhibitions in 1980s. Calligraphy exhibitions are not only the attachment of the calligraphy revival, but also its catalyst. From the development of calligraphy in the latest 20 years,"Exhibition Hall Effects"changes the way of appreciating calligraphy works, which is expressed highly in the favor to large works, running and cursive styles, the decorating of works. Perusing exhibition hall effects also potentially changes our principles of creating works. This paper discusses both positive and negative impacts of exhibition hall effects. The positive impacts include the variety of creative methods, deep mining of the space expressiveness of calligraphy; the negative impacts mainly on the similarity of the style of calligraphy works, producing and designing ruining the emotion attribute of calligraphy. Concerning these impacts, this paper proposes its own opinions and related polices: impress on the independent value of the calligraphy form language; emphasize on the essential meaning of the writing and personality to the calligraphy creation.
