Professional values is an inner scale for the measure of the merits and the importance some profession in the society,which is the embodiment of the general values of individual in the process of career choices.The core of professional values is vocational needs,as is manifested through job evaluation,career motivation,career aspirations,professional attitude,professional ideals ect..With the reference to the previous relevant studies and the open-ended survey,the author forms The Inventory of Professional Values Assessment for College Students with good self-reliability and validity,which is used as the investigation tool for the students from several colleges and universities in Chongqing.The college students' professional values are analyzed and compared on some factors such as study backgrounds(arts or science),gender, grade,family per capita income comparison,from which the author sums up the characteristics of professional values of the current poverty-stricken college students.The results of this study showed that:(1) The Inventory of Professional Values Assessment for College Students has good reliability and validity and it can be used as the investigation tool.The Inventory is classified into two sub-scales,The Value of Professional Conduct Scale including interest and specialty,comfort,interpersonal relationship,independence and personal development five dimensions,and The Value of Working Results Scale including economic reward,stability,security,achievement realization,service to others,the career prospects five dimensions.(2) In dimension of The Value of Working Results,the students scoring from high to low were achievement realization,service to others,stability,security,career prospects,economic reward.In the process of achieving these results,they would consider a variety of objective and subjective factors like the interest and specialty, interpersonal relations,self-independence,personal growth,comfort in a sequence.(3) In the two sub-scales,the professional values of the poverty-stricken college students had significant differences in study background,gender,grade and the source of these different aspects of the cost of living.While there were no significant differences in dimensions like different hometown locations,different sources of tuition fees,.
