This paper discusses the crisis and opportunities literature faces under the impact of visual culture. Today, human beings have entered the age of visual culture. The guidance of a consumer society's mass consumption and consumerism ideology of pleasure, experience and entertainment provide the right soil for visual culture; The visual technology, image production and communicational technology promoted the development of visual culture; The emphasis on visual elements of electronic media changed the way people receive information as well as the concept of time and space. Facing the powerful coming of visual tides, people accept these without even thinking and they are being entertained and catered continuously with greatly satisfying on visual experience. However, at the same time, the receivers are losing themselves and being influenced by some cultural power.In the confrontation of "image" and "texts", images overwhelm texts and videos exclude literature. Literature is facing a profound crisis in the age of"visual culture", not only on the aspect of symbols but also in the form of inner life: disappearance of aesthetic distance, the sense of depth, and regional characters, etc. Therefore, there came the saying of "the end of literature" and different understanding and comment on it in theoretical circle. The author believes although image is occupying the central field of culture, causing a great impact in literature, yet Literature in view of the aesthetic mode, the unique cultural values was affecting people's inner world, and literature will never disappear. The formation and development of Showbiz literature and network literature provide new media and carrier for literature, Literature gained new life. but both literary form need to be guided for their healthy development.
