Modern Chinese "x Y" Research And Related Formats

In the modern Chinese literacy,"Da X Da Y(""大X大Y")is a format between fixed phrases and non-fixed phrases. The framework of"Da…..Da ....."("大……大……") is composed with the same form words or different form words. This article focuses on the"Da X Da Y"format and related issues. In addition to the preface and conclusion, this article is concluded into three parts.The research of first chapter is within the composition of"Da X Da Y"format. First of all, analyze the relationship between the variable"X"and"Y", basis on the nature of the word and the meaning, then conclude its format type. Secondly, analyze the monosyllabic"X","Y"and the conditions of"Da"portfolio. Finally this chapter analyzes the connection between"Da X"("大X"),"Da Y"("大Y") and"Da X Da Y"format.Chapter two studies the function of the"Da X Da Y"format from the perspective of syntax and semantics. As syntactic function, the"Da X Da Y"format, both as complex sentence, clause, and also as a variety of syntactic constituents. As the syntactic element, the"Da X Da Y"format can present its unique features. The"Da X Da Y"format has two features, one is treated as temporary phrases, and another is treated as fixed phrases. The temporary phrase in particular syntactic function of the joint phrase with components"X","Y"function has a direct relationship between the syntactic function of the fixed phrases, sometimes there are some differences within"X","Y"function. Outward view of semantic function, from semantic point analyzes the semantic relations and syntactic relations are the same. Inward view of semantic function,"Da…..Da….."denote the large dimensions, high degrees,"Da"play a decisive role in strengthening the degree. However, different types of"X","Y"constitute the"Da X Da Y"format has some differences in the semantic expression, and analyzed the resulting difference. In chapter three, carry through the angles studies and the comparative studies, we can reveals similarities and differences between the"Da X Da Y","Da X Te X"("大X特Y"),"Da X Xiao Y""(大X小Y"), and"Xiao X Xiao Y"("小X小Y")formats. Deeply understand the"Da X Da Y"format.
