As the knowledge innovation becomes a new driving force of the social development, education takes more and more responsibilities of promoting the continuous and healthy development of nation. What's more, the functions of institutions of higher learning change from the traditional knowledge disseminations and scientific researches to comprehensive ones which contain processing, disseminating, using, integrating, creating and transforming the knowledge and the information. With the social development and the education system's reform, universities gradually undergo the adjustment and optimized allocation of market economy. Therefore, it is of particular importance for university to shape a brand, which without doubt can develop itself and enhance its competitiveness. How to raise brand awareness, establish the UIS and build logo images of various colleges, receives more and more attention. The higher learning institution's logo is the core element of the VI, which expresses the university's operating idea by a direct-viewing visual form, highlights its school character, carries its cultural spirit and shows the cultural connotation. It can help the school strengthen the inner solidarity and public further understand the brand image of university.By logo-the first element of the brand image of college, this paper describes the importance of logo-design and brand image of the university; besides, it bases on the classification and analysis to the logo of domestic and foreign universities, which combines with the logo-design practice of the Department of Safety Science and Engineering in the University of Science and Technology of China, and studies the problems that may appear in universities' logo-design in China, as well; it makes effort to help the university set up a good brand image through a successful logo-design.This subject is selected and researched to enable the practice of design to serve for the education management, which is based on the practice and theory throughout the entire study. By this paper, I hope it can help education managers gradually build more scientific, more modernized and more systematized university on the way to realize its characteristic logo, and can make contributions to the Chinese Education.
