Han Wo Study

Han Wo,a native of Wannian, Jingzhao, courtesy name Zhiyao, infant name Donglang. He showed his talent when he was young, but happened to live in troubled times.He hadn't got a chinshih until the first year of Long Ji of Tang Dynasty after he continued to join imperial examination for 24 years.Han WO became a bureaucratic official in his middle age, but his official career was full of ups and downs.Till helped Emperor Zhaozong of Tang to put down rebellion and restore order, he was appreciated by Zhaozong in the first year of Tian Fu of Tang Dynasty, and promoted to a member of the Imperial Academy. But good times didn't last long, soon he almost lost his life for having offended Zhu Quanzhong. Lastly, he was abased at the third year of Tian Fu, later forsook officialdom, went down to Fujian Province to work for Wang shenzhi, and died there.Based on Han Wo's life and his Poetry after the first year of Long Ji, this paper analysed and discussed his character, the quality and origins of his Poetry from both Macroscopic and Microscopic aspects.The full text was divided into two parts.The first section was mainly on the life and personality of Han WO.To begin with, I expounded Han WO's life from three stages of before official career, in office and old age respectively to show Han WO's lifetime of frustrations on every side.Next, I summarized the character of Han WO objectively, and challenged the praise for Han WO, the so-called perfect man in the late Tang Dynasty. The personality of Han Wo, had many sides rather than one, both the active and negative aspects.This section intended to show comprehensively the real aspect of the outstanding poet and politician in the late Tang Dynasty. The second section was researching on Han WO's poetry. I divided them into three types of Political, Yonghuai, and Reclusion Poetry to study, summarized the style of Han's Poetry, took the use of words,color and allusions as the breakthrough point, unearthed the artistic characteristics of Han Wo's lonely, beautiful, minute and fineness Poetry through word statistics, application of materials and contrast analysis.At the end of the section, I tried to assign the origin of the formation of Han Wo's poetry style and its influence. By the study of Han Wo's poetry, I thought the style of Han Wo's poetry, was mainly affected by Chu-Sao spirit and Li Shangyin's poetry. Besides, Seven Character Regular Verse in the late Tang Dynasty was influenced greatly by Han Wo.He contributed a lot to China poetry history. At the appendix, I made a necessary textual criticism for Han Wo's acquaintance to provide some evidence for the study of Han Wo.
