A Study On The Supply System Of Long - Term Care Service For The Elderly

Like the rest of the world, due to aging population increasing significantly, changing in population and family structure, social welfare system lagging behind the development of society, sophisticated demands for long-term care of elder of chronic medical conditions, increasing of double-income families, the traditional long-term care of elder capabilities become weaker. Academia struggle with concerns related to the serious longterm care of elder’s service burden. There are three major models of long-term care of elder’s service structure. The first one is welfare triangle model which bases on the relationship between nation, market and family mainly. The second is home base-on long term care where the foundation is the combination of community and family. The third is ―four-in-one‖ model which means that government, communities, families, and professional long-term care institutions work together for improving the quality of longterm care of elder. This thesis discussed the long-term care of elder’s service basing on welfare mix theory, social support theory, and social exchange theory.This thesis is based on quantitative analysis of J District, the population aging most serious area of S city. It analyzed data,which collected from a random questionnaires survey from two parties including the aged long-term care needs and supplies, by SPSS statistical software. In the meanwhile, It has described contents of the ―Le age community‖ project, including medical rehabilitation, entertainment, living care, comfort, security assurance, and legal aid, which adheres to the concept of ―aging in place‖ and combines daily care with professional care together efficiently.This thesis using the most serious area of aging in J District of S City as a case to investigate belongs to theories and practices combination investigation. It has investigated the relationship between government, social force, community, family, and professional long-term care institutions within ―Le age community‖ project.The main innovation of the thesis is coming up with ―Five-in-One Structure‖ of long-term care service structure relying on specific and comprehensive research of the case, and stressing that social force is also very important in long-term care service system of elder. ―Five in One Structure‖ has five elements including government, community, family, pension agency, and social participation. All of them work together to contribute to build a comprehensive long-term care service system of elder.
