Zhu Xi,as one of the greatest educational masters of Confucianism, has a comprehensive and profound theory system. The emphasis of this essay inquires into his ideas of self梕ducation. With the defination of the mind, Zhu Xi illustrated that the mind can not only initiative cognize itself and the reason of all things, but also dominate man抯 disposition and thing抯 change. By means of self梔iscipline, self梕xamination, self? restraint and self梠ccupation, an individual can form moral cognition, foster moral sentiment, temper moral willpower and go in for moral practice. To manage state affairs is the goal of selfæ¢'ultivation and it抯 also the ultimate aim of self梕ducation. Moreover, the course of self梕ducation is not close. Being affected by some external causes such as the teacher and the environment, self梕ducation has intimate relations with the social educational enlightenment. To a certain extent, Zhu Xi properly disclosed the basic law and the psychological process of self梕ducation. Many profound ideas of Zhu Xi抯 on self梕ducation such as laying stress on subjectivity and selfæ¢'ultivation settle a significant reference to modern ideological political education and personality consummation.
