Panxi Ecological Reconstruction And Sustainable Development Of Agriculture

Abstract After the flood along Changjiang River Basin in 1998, Panxi Region in Sichuan province was selected as one of the most important ecological regions, in which a series of key ecological projects, such as Turning Crop Fields Back To Forestry, Program for Natural Forest Conservation, etc, would be implemented. Along with implementation of these ecological projects, the contradictions between ecological construction and economic development arose, and the effective resolution has become an academic focus. This paper searches for eco-reconstruction and sustainable agricultural development in Panxi P&拁gion by means of applying modem theories concerning ecological economy arid sustainable agricultural development. On the basis of the present situation of eco-environment and agricultural development in Pa.nxi Region, the author establisi抏s the index system on eco-reconstruction and sustainable agrieultural devebpment in Panxi Region and exerts AHP to measure the weights and sequences of all indexes. Then, according to the weights and sequences, the author put forward some suggestions about realizing eco- reconstruction and sustainable agricultural development in Panxi Region: laying stress on the eco-reconstruction projects, which include Turning Crop Fields Back To Forestry, Program for Natural Forest Conservation, etc; developing and utilizing biologic resources reasonably; choosing feasible models to accelerate the industrialization of agricultuw; researching, developing, introducing and applying advanced, applicable agri~ultural technology; bettering irrigation works and developing water-saving agriculture; controlling rural population and civilizing the peasants; altering the ways of the Poor-helping and choosing proper modes of the Poor-helping; accumulating funds from various channels and regulating the use of the money.
