Study on Food Security of China in World Trade LiberalizationGraduate:Jiang DongpoTutor:Dr.Zhen Shaofeng AbstractFood security is of great importance. In the past decades, Chinese people have succeeded in providing enough food for the nation's healthy and wealthy living. But all this doesn't mean that there aren't any problems about food security in China. In the 21St century, there exist at least four factors which will have great impact on Chinese food security: (1) the increasing population; (2)industrialization; (3)Transition toward into market economy; (4)Trade liberalization in the world market. When China enters into WTO, it has to adjust the agricultural trade by the rule of comparative advantage and comply with rules of WTO. What this paper concerns is china how guarantees food security in the changing situation.Based on the concerned theories about food security ,this paper analyses the crucial factors influencing Chinese grain supply and demand. Then it focuses on examining risk factors in Chinese food security system. Finally, this paper contends that China can use international grain market to fulfill its grain deficit. And the most important is that the risk-preventing mechanism in grain trade should be built up according to international surrounding changes.This paper consists of 8 parts.(1) Introduction;(2) Basic theories concerned about food security;(3) Assessment of food security level in China;(4) Factors influencing Chinese grain supply and demand;(5) Modeling analysis on the relationship between self-reliance policy and food security; (6) Risk factors in Chinese food security system;(7) Strategies to guarantee food security in China;(8) Policy adjustment under WTO framework.
