Regional Tourism Resources Development And Evaluation System

There are three characteristics lie in the practice of regional tourist resources assessment: diversity in patterns of tourist resources demanding highly in degree of integration of assessment models, abundance in number leading to the problem of reasonable choice among the assessment objects, the aim of assessment being the regional tourist resources development planning at macro level. The paper begins its study with summery of the research by other scholars in systematical and creative way. Considering the characteristics in the assessment of regional tourist resources development, with the theories and methods in the fields of tourism geography, tourism resources, behavior geography, tourism marketing, statistics and system engineering, the author puts forth the structure of assessment of regional tourist resources development. The structure includes four aspects, which are: the directing idea, measures, content & index system, and the measure of assessment.Regional tourist resources assessment should be conducted in the market-oriented, systematical, region-oriented and dynamic way. The paper stresses market research in the assessment process, believing that the market-oriented assessment has connotation in three aspects: ?Scientific assessment of location;?market research in the tourism products development; (3) assessment of tourist resources from the angle of tourists themselves. Then, the thesis establishes the model of market assessment, which can be used with the model of tourist resources development at the same time.As for the assessment methods of tourist resources development, the author builds up the system of assessment measures by using the ways of AHP(Analysis of Hierarchy Process); Delphi method; fuzzy synthesis method ; cluster analysis and public research.The paper establishes the assessment model of tourist resources development hi Xi'an city on the basis of discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of models by other researchers, from which a practical assessment measure is obtained.According to the assessment system by the author, the paper initially assesses the tourist resources in Xi'an quantitatively and qualitatively. The general characteristic of tourist resources in Xi'an is obtained from the process, which can be described as the following: relics and ancient remains dominate the tourist resources; natural resources lie in the outskirt; recreation activity supplements the resources; macro-tourism system sustains the resources development. Then the author furthers to analyze the status quo, influential factors and problems of tourist resources development in Xi'an city, on the basis of which the function planning of tourist resources is made. Therefore, the findings build the scientific basis for the general planning of Xi'an tourism.In short, the assessment system by the author proves to be scientific and feasible in the case study of the assessment of Xi'an tourist resources development.
