Under the promotion of the information technology, the development of globalization has become more extensive and profound than ever before. With the ever- increasing communication among various cultures, the culture influence on a nation-state抯 foreign relationship is getting more and more evident. People usually take the perspectives of politics, economy, military and their interaction to study the foreign relationship of a nation-state, through which researchers can directly and undoubtedly disclose its interests seeking in the ever-changing and complicated international community. But culture perspective can make them take a different view to probe a nation抯 values, its thinking and behavior modes that affect its foreign relationship, to study the culture roots that influence the defining of its national interests and the making and implement of its foreign policy, to grasp in general the characteristic, style and trend of its foreign relationship. Based on the above consideration, the thesis carries out discourse and analysis on the American culture elements that influence its foreign relationship. The thesis is composed of three parts. The first part tries to define the word culture from the perspective of its origin and later enrichment, and then carries out discourse on culture identity; The second part focuses on theoretical study about the culture influence on a nation-state抯 foreign relationship; The third part starts from the analysis and discourse on the main branch of the American culture value that originates from the puritan tradition and mingles with reality and natural environment in the American melting pot and then generalizes the nucleus of it. that is: the ideas and values of 揋od Chosen People? 揋od抯 Predestination And Mission? 揂 City Upon A Hill? etc. According to the above analysis, the thesis deals with case study and discussion on the culture roots of the isolationism and expansionism in America抯 foreign relationship and takes efforts to disclose the profound culture influence on them. The superiority sense from 揋od Chosen People? the mission idea of 揋od抯 Predestination And Mission? the model mentality of 揂 City Upon A Hill?have melted into the genes of America抯 ideology that have transcended generations of Americans and dominated Americans?thinkirnz modes and value judgment . which deeply affect the basic tune of America抯 foreign relationship. This makes America take itself as the world leader and base every judgment about world affairs on American standards. which full~?expresses America抯 hegemony and arrogance. However, people should stick to the principle of 搕o perceive, not to judge?to different cultures, thus achieve mutual understanding and trust among various cultures and the world peace and stability can really be established on a solid foundation.
