The General Agreement on Service Trade signed in Uruguay Round plays an essential role in promoting service trade liberalization, which symbolizes a new era of global trade liberalization. As a developing country, China has not fully established its marketing and competitive economy as well as its service trade system. Hence service trade liberalization and opening of its service industry will bring severe challenge and risk to its service industry and to the national economy as well. On the other hand, China is to enter WTO, which inevitably makes it a necessity to further open its service industry. Hence, this dissertation makes a thorough and systematic analysis and discussion on service trade liberalization and China抯 opening-up to the outside world in the field of service industry. The dissertation can be divided into four chapters. The first chapter analyzes the development characteristics and trend of service trade and service trade liberalization as well. The second chapter, on the basis of analyzing the development situation of China抯 service industry, probes into the challenges and opportunities China will have to confront in the course of service trade liberalization. The third chapter analyzes the practicable and restrictive factors to China抯 opening of its service industry, the basic principles and the choice of opening mode, and puts forward the point that China抯 opening of its service industry should choose gradually opening mode. The last chapter puts forward the counter-measures for China to further open up its service industry.
