| The chain management style originated from U.S.A. At the end of 1850's, the first chain store was created in New York, with a history of over one hundred years so far. However, it did not enter it's fast developing period until the 1950's, demonstrating its powerful vitality and enormous developing potentialities. It has drawn much attention and progressed in developed countries and some new industrialized countries or regions, with great success. The economic essence of chain management lies in its application to the circulation field of organization principles of modern industrialized production and massive concentrated manage pattern. By means of "combination, unification, specialization & standardization "etc., the paper indicates that it implements scale operation, standard service and scientific management to achieve the improvement of corresponding operation ability of the whole commercial management system and the benefits of scale economic. In the world, chain management was practised as an organization form by most retail industries. It has become one of the major developing direction of the retail industry. In some developed countries, chain management occupies more than 50% of the retail industry. The chain management in our country started relatively late. With the entry of the foreign enterprises of food and beverage, the modern chain management style was introduced to our country. In 1990's, this new-type modern management style was explored in coastal areas and partly in state-owned commercial enterprises in some large and medium cities, and has made certain achievements. However, there are still some problems at present, thus the sound development of this form is restrained.This thesis aims to serve for the managers and would-be managers at all levels in the chain management field, focusing on how to provide scientific chain management ideas for decision-maker and manager board of chain enterprises to overcome misunderstanding, and to offer a comparatively practical and intact theory frame for the managers to make decisions which will lead to favorable and steady progress of chain enterprises.
