In the less than 10 years history of Chinese Internet, portal almost held the whole views. Till today, the Chinese Internet history is almost the history of Chinese portal. Besides, I believe that portal company will be most important member in the several after years.This discourse will research the case of SOHU. com. By reviewing the grow course of Chinese Internet, summarizing the national experience in Internet, analyzing the portals' developing strategy, give the propose for Chinese Internet. SOHU, which established in 1996, is the first Internet company in China by using the invest fund successfully. After a year' s struggle, Sohu has been the one of famous Web in China, and came into Nasdak in June 2000. The founder Zhangzhaoyang was said "Digital Hero" , the idol of million Chinese. In 2000, The Nasdak storm swept the globe IT, the SOHU stock fall to around 1$. Under the powerful pressure, SOHU had to say goodbye to propagandize梩ime, looking for the model of profit.Two directories are being thanked for Chinese Portals: from the view of a simple portal and an ISP.For getting away from today' s predicament, Portals should make use of the mighty brand resources of oneself, and proceeds to afresh integrate to resources, modify the developing strategy, adjust the functional strategy. This demand proceeds the both side's resources integration: (1) traditional business resources (2) website resources.Five direction should be : (1) extend the ad revenue; (2) increase to charge the item;(3) develop electronic commerce; (4) deep development of one or two realm that have been choice;(5) expand the new realm.
