The non-life insurance industry of China has obtained great achievements after more than 20 year' development. Probing into the non-life insurance industry of our country, we can see that the non-life insurance industry has great potential. However, the China's non-life insurance market structure is oligarchic monopolization, which has seriously restrained the non-life insurance market demand. In the development of the non-life insurance industry, as it is of momentous significance that analyzing the non-life insurance market demand, understanding the non-life insurance market structure, deep study of it needs to be made to provide scientific basic for operating decision and effective supervision.This dissertation consists of three parts, which contain seven chapters.Chapter One and Chapter Two constitute the first part, which introduces the basic concepts of insurance demand. Part Two has three chapters, analyzing the present situation and the potential of the non-life insurance market demand and finding the reason of giving rise to the gap between the non-life insurance market demand and its potential. The last two chapter, Chapter Six and Chapter Seven, constitute Part Three. This part focuses on choosing the monopoly competitive non-life insurance market structure mode by analyzing the present non-life insurance market structure of China.Chapter One studies the meaning and the economic specific property of insurance demand. In this chapter, the basic concepts are introduced such as insurance effective demand, insurance natural demand. Insurance premium, Insurance penetration and insurance density are also introduced as the indicators of the insurance demand. In addition, some inspirations are drawn from studying the economic specific property of the insurance demand.Chapter Two discusses the factors that influence the non-life insurance market demand. In this chapter, the factors that influence the non-life insurance market demand are divided into internal factors andexternal ones. The former includes cultural tradition and awareness of the non-life insurance, income level, preference of insurer, history tradition and operating mode. The latter includes compulsory insurance, insurance premium rate, quality and service of supplying insurance, insurance market structure, the price of other commodity, law environment, economic system of organization, the science and technology, social environment, civil rights of citizens.Chapter Three analyzes the non-life insurance market demand of our country. In this chapter, a lot of statistic data is used to analyze the non-life insurance market demand. Looking into the development process of the non-life insurance industry in China, the non-life insurance industry has positive correlation with the national economy. But compared to the life insurance industry, the non-life insurance industry is developing slowly in recent years and the non-life insurance market demand is insufficient. There is also a big gap between the Chinese non-life insurance market demand and other countries' according to the statistic comparison. In a word, the non-life insurance market demand level is still very low in China, which indicates the non-life insurance market demand has enormous potential.Chapter Four studies the potential of the non-life insurance market demand in China. The potential of the non-life insurance market demand in China is enormous owing to the reform of the economic system, the increasing of national economy, the raising of the resident revenue, the changing of the non-life insurance demand structure and the opening of the insurance market. All these factors will stimulate the development of the non-life insurance industry, which magnifies the non-life insurance demand.Chapter Five analyzes the reasons giving rise to the gap between the non-life insurance market demand and its potential.
