ERP is a business operating and managing system which integrated material flow, financing flow, and information flow. In ERP, a lot of scientific and advanced ideas of management is fully embodied.In order to achieve its goal of development, Sinopec makes a decision to upgrade traditional industry with information technology. The startup of ERP is one of these actions. It is very important for Sinopec to research how to successfully implement ERP.In the beginning, this paper reviews the evolvement of ERP and its concepts of management. Secondly through analyzing a large number of information acquired by investigation, this paper compares the implementations of Five large foreign oil companies, and generalizes the features of their implementations. Thirdly by researching ERP implementation in a oil company of Southeast Asia which is similar to Sinopec, this paper summarized this company' s experiences on implementing ERP. Then through investigating IT application in Sinopec, a lot of data is acquired and the gap between Sinopec and large Foreign oil companies is found. Last, by analyzing environment and risks of ERP implementation in Sinopec, this paper puts forward that Sinopec should establish enterprise culture which is consistence with ERP, develop supply chain management and carry out BPR.In addition, the implementing process of ERP is researched, and some countermeasures to ensure the successful implementing ERP are suggested. This paper also researches on the relations between ERP and other information system. Finally This paper makes a primary study on the integration of ERP and E-business.
