Jiangsu Shipbuilding Industry Competitiveness Study

The thesis introduces the distribution of productive forces of shipbuilding industry in china and the world, and describes the sharp rising situation of shipbuilding industry in Jiangsu. The thesis focuses on the industrial policies, global macro-economic environment, development tendency of the global shipping industry and relevant industry, the entry of China into WTO and the needs of domestic and international shipping market to give a description of developmental environment of shipping industry in Jiangsu. The thesis discusses the major components of competence in shipbuilding such as natural resources, productive abilities, technical standards, managing standards, human resources, cost of the shipbuilding and so on. The purpose of all the above-mentioned discussed one by one is to obtain the advantages and disadvantages of shipbuilding industry in Jiangsu. The author suggests that effective measures and strategic choices should be taken to speed up the integrating competence of the industry on the consideration of the realities in Jiangsu. The measures and choices are to enforce the strategy of regulation and technical innovations, to accomplish effectiveness of system and mechanism, to advance the shipbuilding level, also to enforce the strategy of equipment in leading place, to develop advanced and proper technique and to improve the information level, to improve the managing standard, to keep advantages in cost, and to enforce the strategy of modern marketing. The thesis also discusses how the government can play a proper role in making comprehensive planning, implementing the industrial policies and administering the industry.
