Dalian Pfizer Management Information System Implementation Study

With the development of global economy, the subsistence and development of enterprises will more and more rely on the Management Information System. And the Information System has penetrated all levels of management organization and management activities. All enterprises must have the suitable management information system to support its control level to improve the competitive capacity.The present system - Manufacturing, Accounting and Planning System running in Dalian Pfizer Pharmaceutical Limited Company is designed based on the Production, Logistics and Finance management, which is the universal software for Pfizer Global plants. With the changes of internal and external environment, Dalian plant to be as the products supply organization within the global manufacturing group, not only to satisfy the local market sales requirement, but also to meet the orders from other Pfizer plants, hi addition, Pfizer conducted twice global acquisition in 2000 and 2002. After the global plants were reconstructed, it is required to improve the reaction speed in logistics and to improve the efficiency by taking advantage of the system application and fast communication between global plants and customers. So it is the new challenges for the original Management Information Systems by facing the task of decreasing the cost and meeting the market requirements.This paper proposes the limitation and incompleteness in logistic management and implementation process through the application analysis and implementation research of Management Information System in Dalian Pfizer. At same time it suggests the measures for logistics system development and implementation improvements by considering the actual business and global development direction. And to reach the improvement goal through Business Process Reengineering and implementation guarantee measures. Wish it will instruct Pfizer to improve the Management Information System and enterprise competition by taking it as the action objective.The successful implementation of MAPS is the good experience for internal system and the legacy plants after acquisition. It aims to make Dalian Pfizer to be adapt to the organization reconstruction under the new economic condition and at same time to make commitment for the one Global Pfizer through the research in this thesis.
