With the rapid development and integration of the world economy and fiercer competition in the tourism market in recent years and under the influence of the strategic alliances among industrial, commercial, and tourism enterprises in other parts of the world, the Chinese tourism enterprises have been trying to form strategic alliances. While some of them have achieved certain economic benefits, there is a great gap in terms of efficiency between Chinese tourism enterprises and their international counterparts, and not many alliances can operate successfully. In the light of the actual situations of the Chinese tourism industry, this thesis makes a profound research on the key influencing factors and their relative importance to the successful operation of strategic alliances of Chinese tourism enterprises, so that some helpful thoughts about the operation of strategic alliances of Chinese tourism enterprises can be provided.Having summarized the current domestic and international situations of strategic alliances of tourism enterprises, this thesis aims to study the key factors that influence the formation and successful operation of tourism strategic alliances, their relative importance, and the corresponding measures to be taken. Through an overall review of relevant documents of tourism strategic alliances, the author annotates various definitions of strategic alliances of tourism enterprises, mode of formation, mechanism of operation as well as the efficiency of tourism strategic alliances by using the exchange cost theory of industry economics and the value chain theory of strategic management, and sums up his findings that the matching policy of alliance partners, coordination of alliance cultures, the alliance agreement, the trust policy, and the mechanism of supervision are key factors influencing the successful formation and operation of any tourism strategic alliances. The thesis designs a theoretical model, carries out four kinds of SPSS analysis on data obtained through questionnaire survey, including factor analysis, correlation analysis, regression analysis, as well as analysis of variances, and modifies the theoretical model by adding leadership as another important factor. Suggestions and proposals are put forward by the author for the successful formation and operation of tourism strategic alliances. They are development of core competence of alliance enterprises, strengthening the dependence and relations between alliance leaders and members, promoting cultural coordination, training mutual trust among alliance partners, establishing normative inspective mechanism, and appropriate alliance agreement.
