Study Of Electronic Postal Value Chain Competitive Advantage

This paper consists of four sections, focusing on the competitive advantages of the electronics postal service industry in the context of value chain.The first part gives an overview of the electronics postal service in China, which is a new strategy adopted by the China Post and plays a more and more important role in postal enterprises in China.The second part describes the theoretical fundamentals on the competitive advantages of the value chain as a starting point for research in this paper. Firstly, Porter's five forces model of industrial analysis is used for analyzing the situation of electronics postal service in postal enterprise, then Porter's value chain theory is discussed in detail so as to pave the way for in-depth analysis of the electronics postal service in the third part.The third part conducts a detailed analysis of the electronics postal service value chain, with particular emphasis on the core and distinctive competences as well as the competitive advantages of electronics postal service value chain. To reinforce the illustration, two cases of electronics postal service enterprises are explicitly dealt with for their successful applications.The final part points out the ways to improve the competition advantages of the electronics postal service in the context of the value chain in five aspects, i.e. to build effective platform of postal logistics；to build and use the postal networks that comprise three flows (capital flow, information flow and logistics)；to optimize electronics postal service both within and outside the postal enterprises along their value chain；and to enhance qualifications and competences of employees in postal enterprises.
