In a condition of market economy, whether a distract is competitive, not depends on it has all kinds of industries but on it has its own dominant industries. Only dominant industries can turn the potential advantages into reality . making a distract-developing strategy usually starts from three aspects: Firstly, analyses the resources, economy and nature conditions of local distract ,study which industries could be expand into dominant and advantage industries, and then make out the suitable strategy of these industries . Secondly, according to the local situation , make the strategy more suitable . Lastly, pay more attention to "local advantages", build dominant industries full of its own advantages. The development of Yanbian is lower than other distracts in developing its dominant industries during the post years. In the new century ,facing with the opportunities of perfect government policy and the co-developing of Tumen river distract, Yanbian should create its dominant industries rapidly. This is an important issue for us.The article bases on Yanbian' advantages in location and natural conditions, guiding by the theory ,combing with reality ,sums up that Yanbian should expand these three industries into dominant industries: one is biology agriculture, the other is international trade, the third is tourism.The article contains four chapters: the first chapter, introduces the theory of developing minority economy and the theory of dominant industry ; the second chapter introduces Yanbian' current economy situation and natural resources, also analyses the opportunities and the challenges that Yanbian is facing now.; the third chapter proposes Yanbian should develop biology agriculture, international trade, tourism into dominant industries ;the fourth chapter states how to expand these industries, then make the local economy stronger and stronger.
