With the globalization of world economy and the development of e-commerce, enterprises pay more attention to enterprises' reaction to market, technical know-how, flexibility and innovation. Adapt to those changes, enterprises have to concentrate their resources to their core businesses and outsource the non-core businesses to the corresponding service providers in order to obtain competitive advantages.Beginning with the basic knowledge of logistics outsourcing and the 3PL service provider, the logistics outsourcing in USA, Japan, Europe and China are introduced in this thesis.Transaction cost and organization cost are the essential reasons for logistics outsourcing. In the thesis, the business process of the logistics outsourcing was analyzed by value chain analysis. Author suggested that enterprises could obtain constant competitive advantages by business process re-engineering.According to my opinions, generally the level of industry concentration is relatively low in China logistics outsourcing market, where a lot of small and medium sized 3PL companies plays, and this restricts the industry future development. After China joined the WTO, the global logistics giants penetrate into China market and compete with local suppliers, the scope and capacity of logistics outsourcing industry in China grows rapidly, and the game rules will be redefined. Facing more and more options, customers need set up business criteria and operation procedures to evaluate and select logistics partner. Based on the analysis to the China domestic market, I put forward to six selection criteria and why we should use them.
