As the growth of the global economy has got higher and higher, the mega events all over the world are increasing day by day. Also the number of countries, which take part in large and complex sports events, are increasing. The benefits of mega sports events opening are also clear. And inter-relationship between tourism and sports events is getting closer and closer.Under this condition, this study shows the ways of managing tourist accommodation facilities, which were made during the preparatory period of 2002 Worldcup, and analyzes the attitude on the tourist accommodation of Worldcup.There are few domestic and foreign studies on the tourists related to sports events tour. This paper presents the classification of them. Spectator tourists are those who tour after viewing games. Participatory tourists, related directly to the games, are those who tour, when they are free before and after the games: athletes, reporters, referees, etc. Pure tourists are those who visit the host country for the purpose of business or sightseeing, regardless of the games.This study also defines the tourist accommodation facilities of sports events. They are facilities and service, which is offered for convenience of spectator tourists, participatory tourists, and pure tourists. And they have five characteristics comparing to the normal tourist facilities.This study shows the tourist accommodation management situation of sports events in Korea. And it conducted the expert survey about the preparation policy of Worldcup to analyze the plan of post-worldcup.This paper is going to offer the basic materials to establish the policy of tourist accommodation facilities efficiently. Especially it will be used as an important material for the preparation of 2008 Beijing Olympic.
