Knowledge is an important source for enterprises in knowledge economy age. Knowledge alliance, being a form of strategy alliance, is an efficient way to cultivate core competence and acquire competition advantage. Therefore, the research on knowledge alliance has gained great attention from academics and industries. This thesis tries to look into enterprise knowledge alliance theoretically and empirically, which will be meaningful from both theoretical and practical points of view.Chapter one is the summarization of knowledge alliance. It gives the connotation, the motive and the characteristics of knowledge alliance, knowledge alliance is an association between different enterprises or between enterprise and other organization, which aims at the transferring and innovating of knowledge. It main goal is learning and innovating knowledge. The motive of enterprise knowledge alliance is various, which lies in strengthening the core competence essentially.Chapter two is the theoretical foundation for enterprise knowledge alliance. Firstly, the theory that the competition advantage stems from the enterprise knowledge inside is introduced. It is proposed that the enterprise competition advantage depends on knowledge possessed by an enterprise and the capability of perceiving related to knowledge. At the same time the meaning of enterprise knowledge is explained. Secondly, the cooperation theory of enterprise knowledge alliance is studied in this chapter. The characteristics of knowledge in enterprise knowledge alliance are reflected in knowledge division and accumulation, the path dependency in the knowledge market and knowledge surplus. The studies on these aspects are helpful to acknowledge the regular pattern in enterprise knowledge alliance.Chapter three is the construction of enterprise knowledge alliance, which concludes four parts. It first raises that enterprise should cultivate the foundation on knowledge alliance. Secondly, it introduces the principles to select the partner in enterprise knowledge alliance. The third part stresses that alliance agreement should be signed. Fourthly, it illustrates the selection of alliance forms.Chapter four puts forwards an effective learning mechanism. It first analyzes barriers to learning in enterprise knowledge alliance. Based on the analysis, it raises that an effective learning mechanism is needed in the enterprise knowledge alliance. A good learning mechanism will be helpful for effectively transferring knowledge. The part mainly illustrates six factors of learning mechanism: system thinking; improving mental model by organization learning each other; cultivating relation capital; the atmosphere of learning each other; the inner-active learning; the transition and innovation of knowledge.Chapter five discusses the management of enterprise knowledge alliance. It includes four aspects: the first is developing trusting relations each other; the second is cultivating cultural atmosphere in cooperation; the third is establishing the effective managing system for enterprise knowledge alliance, which includes the changing of organization design, the support of human resources management, the information flow, the evaluation mechanism of results, the mechanism of encouraging learning and sharing knowledge; the fourth is protecting the core competence of enterprise.Chapter six provides tactics to knowledge alliance for enterprise in China on the basis of the above several parts. Based on the analysis on status, it illustrates strategies from four aspects: firstly enterprise should improve managing mechanism and cultivate the capability of learning. Secondly the function of government is emphasized. Thirdly, knowledge alliance can be an effective mode to "producing, learning, developing" association. Lastly, it elaborates several aspects when enterprise develops transnational enterprise knowledge alliance.
