As far as religion is concerned, it is a main respect to be suitable for socialism, which a lot of new situations and new problems have appeared. Studying about the function of the religion in socialism period is helpful to strengthen people's knowledge of religion function, to make the comrades who research religion realize the importance of the religious work, and the sense of responsibility, the sense of urgency, which is favorable to national security and unity of the motherland, to comity of the nationality, economic development, social stability, and to the long-term rule of the party and country.In addition to the introduction and tag, the thesis consists of four chapters. This thesis have analyzed the understanding on the function of religion of each periods since the foundation of new China, which announce that there is a process from maladjustment to adaptation on the relation between religion and socialism. The third chapter is a dual character of religion's function in socialism period. The chapter mainly inspects what aspect the religion play positive and negative effect in socialism period. The fourth chapter is "Leading religions to accommodate themselves to socialism society actively". At the same time, the chapter stresses that it is main side to acclimatize each other at present period, and there is incompatible side also, we should prevent and lessen the negative consequence of the religion.
