As is known to all, China's milk industry has entered the fast development period in the last few years, along with the escalating of people's living standards and the putting forward of series of policies by Chinese government which are concerned with the improvement of the residents' nourishment level, such as "student milk plan" etc. Although in recent years, local dairy products enterprises have achieved great development in a large scale, the current situation now is that the scale is still limited, comparing with international dairy products enterprises. The average consumption of the Chinese residents is still small. Thanks to these, the Chinese milk industry has great potential for further development. However, too positive as it does, the competition of this industry becomes more and more fierce. In this background, how to promote the enterprise competitiveness is the key to a diary product enterprise's success.Inner Mongolia is located in the north of China, it is a typically contradictory unification of rich resources and poor economy. Thiscontradictory combination of "rich" and "poor" provides this region with great potentials in development and the thirsty for development; therefore, the development of Inner Mongolia plays a very important role in China's western region economic development. Inner Mongolia is a quiteimportant province in livestock husbandry industry. Two "star enterprises" in this industry, Yili and MengNiu, are located here. Facing the vast development prospect of the Chinese milk industry, those diary products enterprises benefit a lot from the plain, which is free from pollution. Those products are well recognized by the consumers and sold all around China and even abroad. The rapid development of YiLi and MengNiu is a successful case of how to change the regional resources advantages into the enterprises advantages and bring along the activation of the economic development in that region. Owing to this, I think this thesis has very important realistic and research value and it deserves the attention of other business enterprises in western region.This research method of this thesis is the combination of normative analysis and positive analysis and the combination of the dynamic analysis and the static analysis.In the normative analysis, I try all my efforts to absorb the domestic and international achievement in this field, using the basic theories of the enterprise competitiveness to analyze the present situation and the further development of the competition ability of the dairy products enterprise. In the positive analysis, I try to evaluate the enterprises competitiveness, in an investigation of various factors influencing the competitiveness of YiLi and MengNiu. I also try to make it clear that the advancing of enterprise competitiveness can contribute a lot and fasten the development of enterprise, as well as the development of thewhole economic region. In the dynamic analysis, I do the research of the development condition in this industry since the Opening-up and the great development of western region, especially about these two big enterprises YiLi and MengNiu. The main reasons for their rapid development and the main problems of these two enterprises are also further discussed. In the static analysis, based on the holding the relationship between the regional economic and enterprise development, I set forth my own opinion on how to escalate the competitiveness of the diary products enterprises in Inner Mongolia, in the hope that my analysis will contribute to the economic development of Inner Mongolia, and even the whole Western region.
