GM Company being a jewelry company, its performance appraisal should include its own specialty. This comes from GM Jewelry Company's personnel's specialty, which directly comes from this company need to serve special type of customers. Because GM Jewelry Company's product is specialized, higher quality, comparatively higher price, and could be used for boasting; so generally, company's customers have higher requirements for products and are pickier about sales personnel's work behavior. This specialty means that GM Jewelry Company needs to focus more on details for sales. From this also means that GM Jewelry Company's performance appraisal needs to focus on plans for details.Because of the above mention understanding, this thesis analyzes GM Jewelry Company's performance appraisal problems by defining performance appraisal, connecting appraisal with other links in the management chain, separating appraisal for different levels, focusing the appraisal goals, choosing appraisal frequency, designing the areas for appraisal, quantifying appraisal items, setting up feed back system for appraisal, and other areas. On the basis of analyzing the reasons behind problems in Company's appraisal system, with regard to improving GM Jewelry Company's performance appraisal, suggested policies for operation in areas of establishing appropriate appraisal system, transferring the focus of appraisal, managing goals and connecting different appraisals, quantifying appraisal system and establishing feed back system, and other areas.
