With the development of the regional economic organization, the trade volume among regions keeps on rising. As a main transportation means, container traffic has been affected. One of the changes is the scale of container ship becoming more and more large. Large-scale ships require deepwater ports. The port's function varies from economic returns only to social benefits, blending regional economy with the international economic circulation. Neighboring countries compete to build deepwater ports and logistic center. They strive for making their ports the international container terminal port. Meanwhile, the process of regional economic organization demands regional co-orperation. How to do with the contradiction? Shanghai is situated on the intersection of Yangtze River and eastern coastline, also the join of national backland and ocean backland. Shanghai owns the strategic economic position too. Shanghai should be built into International Shipping Hub, first of all should build international container deepwater terminal port. This essay mainly discussed the competition and the co-operation that Shanghai Port has to confront.The first chapter introduced different kinds of historic study achievement in competition and cooperation, such as psychology, systems science, economics and management. Then on the base of a model, the importance of cooperation among ports group is stressed.The second and the third chapter study the different sorts of competition Shanghai port confronting. The second chapter focused on international background, mainly the influence to Shanghai, the opponent and the partner of Shanghai Port in Northeast Asia. The third chapter discussed the problem according to Yangtze River delta and Zhujiang delta. First the situation is viewed as a whole, such as the economic organization, city groups' development,Shanghai's leading position. Then it is viewed from two aspects. Third the changes in competition and cooperation what Shanghai Port confronted caused by regional economic organization are analyzed.
