A Study Of The Role And Function Of The Government In The Regional Economic Integration In Yangtze River Delta

One of the issues that have gained the whole China'sconcern currently is on how to step up the interactivedevelopment of cities in the Yangtze River Delta,the mostvigorous region in economic development in China.In theprocess of regional economic integration in the Yangtze RiverDelta,the rational positioning of the government and itsactive role are of vital importance.The paper identifies therole and function of the government in two aspects . First, theregional economic integration should be market oriented whilethe government should play a guiding,promoting,coordinatingand serving role by establishing a service-orientedgovernment and offering better service to diverse marketplayers and fostering a favorable business and investmentclimate.Second,to identify the role and function of thegovernment ,it is more important to establish a cooperativegovernment in which governments at all levels join theirefforts and resources to promote the interactive regionaldevelopment in the Yangtze River Delta.
