Applied Research, System Dynamics In Supply Chain Management

Current research on supply chain management is leaning to the integral method and the research technique is emerging in endlessly, too. The technique of operational research is frequently adopted among them. But the technique of operational research often neglects the non-linearity behavior in supply chain management. So some conclusions by operational research are not satisfied with the managers of logistics in decision-making.In this paper, author will adopt system dynamics to study supply chain management. It is convenient to analyze dynamics development on logistics activity from the angle of fix quantify and determining the nature by the use of system dynamics modeling in supply chain management. Then the analysis can provide assistant and reference in decision-making of logistics.The contents of this paper are listed as following:Chapter 1, the paper presented the background, the purpose and the significance of research.Chapter 2, the paper introduced some definitions on logistics, logistics system, supply chain and supply chain management; Indicated the development trends of logistics; analyzed the constitutions of supply chain; Distinguished the relations between logistics and supply chain.Chapter 3, the paper introduced the definition and specialty of system dynamics. Then author gave the procedure in using Vensim software to model all kinds of supply chains. In addition, author summarized the studies on system dynamics in supply chain management in home and foreign countries.Chapter 4, author analyzed a simply production-distribution system. Then constructed five retailer order system models and analyzed manyorder policies in different conditions. After explained the model results, author found the best retailer order policy.Chapter 5, author constructed and simulated sales fluctuations system dynamics model. Then investigated the interaction between sales and production capacity expansion in a growing market. Based the model results, author analyzed the reasons of sales fluctuations and concluded the trends of sales fluctuations.In addition, author made parameters sensitivity analysis.
