With the swift and violent development of Information Technology, informatization tide booms over the world. A new economic strategy at the core of advancing informatization has been held in esteem by all countries. Especially, the implementation of "Informatization High-way" plan in 1990s has brought enormous opportunities to our economy, and the degree of informatization has been one of the most important indices in measuring the overall national power and competitive power of a nation. Every country regards accelerating informatization as a new-style development strategy. It has been proved in recent years that, the technological innovations caused by this great informatization tide in strength and impetus has made further impact on economic development and social life as well as tremendous progress to man's social civilization. The informatization in our country begins late, and there is a big gap between it and developed countries such as the U.S. and Japan. It is a very arduous and urgent task to develop our informatization economy and improve our informatization. First of all, we must establish a suit of index system that suits the condition of our country and can exactly and conveniently reflect our current economic informatization level, so that we can scientifically and precisely estimate our informatization, and make out the disparity with developed countries and our insufficient as well as catch up with them as soon as possible. The paper first puts forward the object: the economic informatization in our country, and then systematically introduce the theories and methods of estimating informatization. Referring to the index system of ITU and IDC, it amends the informatization index modelof Japan, and establishes a new suit of index system that can reflect our informatization degree better and makes a comparison with "NII"(National Informatization Index). Finally, it puts forward the development pattern and countermeasures of accelerating our informatization after drawing lessons from the U.S. and Japan.
