Large Domestic Shipping Companies To Carry Out The Development Of Logistics Services Strategy And Organizational Structure

It is a general tendency from sea transportation to integrated logistics for international shipping company. In 1970's , the international line company began to enter logistics domain. In recent 20 years, as world-wide well known international shipping companies, P&O NEDLLOYD, NYK Line and MAERSK have had an insight into the development orientation of shipping company exquisitely and succeeded entering the integrated logistics domain. But in our country, due to the first stage of logistics market and the distinctive market environment, large shipping companies have just developed integrated logistics in recent years and a newly emerging object must be confronted with problems during its development. In the dissertation, the author analyze and probe into the problems of development strategy and group structure for domestic large shipping company while carrying out logistics service.The research method of this dissertation is: based on the theories of company's development strategy and group structure and take three domestics large shipping companies as a example, ie China ocean shipping company , China shipping , China National Foreign Trade Transportation Joint Stock limited Company(respectively abbreviated as COSCO, CS, Sinotrans).The author analyze and study the problems of development strategy and group structure for domestic large shipping company during logistics service. In chapter one the author begin with the current situation of China logistics market, then point out the necessity of logistics service for domestic large shipping companies and put forward the problems of development strategy and group structure for them while carrying out logistics service. Combining the practical situation of logistics company in chapter two the author elaborate the theories of company's development strategy and group structure. After abundant investigation, in chapter three and chapter four the author take COSCO, CS, Sinotrans as a example to give account of the current situation of development strategy and group structure respectively for domestic large shipping companies while carrying out logistics service. In chapter five the author specifically elaborate the problemsof development strategy and group structure for domestic large shipping companies while carrying out logistics business. In chapter six, the author reconsider these two problems and put forward relevant measures: On development strategy, large shipping company should depend on its strong shipping ability and take Third Party Logistics as the starting point so as to be the leading integrated logistics service supplier; as for group structure, large shipping company should set up specialized logistics company and the logistics company should adopt matrix group structure.The study significance of this dissertation lies in: In theory, it beneficially probes into the problems of development strategy and group structure for domestic large shipping company during logistics service. In practice, it can play an active role in the development of logistics service for domestic large shipping company and the third party logistics company as well.
