In the 90s of 20th century, Mr. Hammer and Mr. Champy introduced first that "Business Process Reengineering is the fundamental re-consideration and thorough re-design to the company's business process resulting in the dramatic improvement in terms of cost, quality, service, efficiency and so on." This makes the company to greatly suit the environment of "customer, competition and change" which are the major characteristics of a modern business environment. Because of the creative introduction that may result in a prosperous future and the different successes made by those leaders or executives of various companies mastering the key thoughts under the guidance of BPR, the Business Process Reengineering is greatly becoming the key thought for different companies to break the bottle neck of their business development or come out from their difficult business situation. This thesis focuses on the research of process reengineering in order to clearly describe the frame of process reengineering as well as its principal and the methods of innovation of companies under the guidance of this thought.Firstly, the various shortcomings like the detailed occupational separations of traditional process, low efficient organization, waste of resources, customer ignorance, etc result in the concept of process reengineering and the detailed description of the major status of process reengineering in this thesis. The key point of a company's business process is to focus on the profit of customer, to center on the staff and to concentrate on the efficiency and the effectiveness of the business process. Second, this thesis analyzes the affectation of environment related to the process reengineering based on another research example – BHTT company, from a view of electrical power industry and equipment manufacturing. The ability of input and output that is related to process reengineering is analyzed from the structure of the company itself. Therefore, the importance of process reengineering for the development of a company is greatly emphasized. Third, this thesis develops a plan of process reengineering for BHTT company derived from the study of experience gained from an example. The plan is designed as a multi-layer cube. The whole BPR system includes concept reengineering, process reengineering and structure reengineering, and is being led by the process reengineering. There are several corresponding processes within every layer while every layer works within each other. Fourth, this thesis details the potential problems like the conflict between present and the future, difficulty of human resource etc within the design and the implementation of process reengineering of a company. This eventually generates a rule that process reengineering has to be paid more attention to the principal of operation and the suggestion of problem solving. Finally, the author makes a conclusion for this thesis, and indicates the limitation of this research as well as the direction of the development of process reengineering in the future.
