In the fierce marketing competition, a company that wants to gain the competitive advantage should improve its performance. Performance management is a useful method to realize this purpose. Performance management is a kind of management thought and method in improving a company's performance, developing its potential and helping a company success. Performance management can help a company realize its strategy, stimulate its staff, and develop a constructive relationship between the managers and their subordinate. Now the performance management has become the core of the human resource management. Though the performance management is so important for a company, in fact, many companies don't feel satisfactory to their performance management system. So how to design a performance management system that is needed for a company and can help a company realize its strategy becomes this article's purpose. This article uses the empirical method to analyze how to design a performance management a company needed, and chooses the AS company as the instance. First I analyze the AS company's original performance management. Then I use the modern performance management thought to design a new system for AS company. This article concludes four chapters. The chapter 1 introduces the AS company and the troubles now it meets. The chapter 2 details the basic performance management theories this article needed. The chapter 3 is the core part of the article. This chapter expounds how to design a new performance management system for AS company. The chapter 4 is the assessment to the new system and the summary to the whole article. The purpose of this article is to found a performance management system that can help a company improve its core competitive capacity. To solve this problem, I think we should consider the following factors: the first one is to choose the performance technology. The second one is to found the system of index and criterion. The last one is to found the sound process of performance management. Through this article, I discuss the method about how to found a performance management system that can help a company improve its core competitive capacity and realize its strategy. And I put forward some of my opinions and advice to the problems we maybe meet in the practice. I hope it can be useful for the practice of performance management.
