China's Enterprises Across Technical Barriers Countermeasures

With the strength of trends in trade liberalization and integration of world economy since 1990 s, two apparent changes should be considered in barriers to international trade. One is that the emphasis of trade barriers is transferred from tariff barriers to non-tariff (or NTBs), the other is that the emphasis of NTBs turns from quota to Technical Barriers to Trade (or TBT). TBT has became the principal measure and advanced form of protectionism.Chinese economy relies on import&export badly with the expanding of foreign trade. In recent years, however, TBT from developed country hasimpact China s export frequently because of kinds of reasons such as our technical level and the structure of export products. TBT has become the most critical problem of China s export instead of anti-dumping. All above are the backgrounds of the subject.TBT plays a very important role in international trade. Depending on the advantage of technology, developed countries takes more and more TBT which has features including focalization, flexibility, wide-ranging, etc, to protect domestic industry.After entering World Trade Organization (WTO), China is faced dual challenges which are spanning TBT and protecting domestic market. TBT impacts China because of the concentration of China s export market, the low level of the export products and the imp perfect of China s TBT system. Consequently, spanning foreign TBT and establishing domestic system of TBT become the strategic issues which guarantee continuous development of trade and protect the national economy safety. So it is very important to study on influence of TBT and China s countermeasures.
