On The Construction Of The Country's Image In The Context Of Globalization

In the era of globalization, with the function of material power which takes military strength as its core weakening, conceptual power is being paid more attention to and becoming a focus of international competition day by day, so the issue of national image starts to show importance. As to current countries all over the world, it has already been a road of existence to establish good national image in the times of globalization. In view of this, this paper mainly reexamines the cultural meaning of the concept of national image form the perspective of postmodern international relations theories, analyzes the constructing course of national image and emphasizes the important meaning of state image in the international relations under he background of globalization and finally makes its focus on the question of China national image construction. The aim of all these analyses lies in exposing the function of culture as a factor of background that hides in deep structure of international relations and the interacting relations between national image and international power operation through rediscovering the cultural essential of national image and analyzing the course of national image constructed. Last but not the least, this paper wants to offer a kind of beneficial theory study to explain the possibility of China's entering international community peacefully and to deconstruct all sorts of " China threat theory " proposed by outsiders.On approaches of researching, this essay has followed a route of idealism and attempts to find a middle way integrating the methods -structural analysis and process analysis. It particularly emphasizes the application of methodology holism, and also draws benefits from the paradigms of postmodern international relations theories including constructivism and de-constructivism.Different from the analyses of national image traditionally, this essay does not think the state image means the objective material characteristics of a country, but is the product of interacting practice among countries, is a prospect reappearance of a country's objective condition in other culture-linguistic environment.
