Fengning is a county with several ethnic groups. In the process of historical and social development, all the ethnic groups formed a good relationship and developed livestock and farm industry. However, due to the ethnic discrimination policies that were carried out by the ruling class in the old times, poor people had to be cruelly ruled by the aristocrats of one ethnic group. Thanks to the founding of the People's Republic of China, the old ethnic discrimination policies were abolished. The Chinese Communist Party carried out a series of right ethnic policies, and an equal, united and reciprocal ethnic relationship was formed. Since then, people of all ethnic groups stepped forward towards a prosperous future. During this period of time, ethnic groups such as Man, Han, Mongolian and Hui were in friendly relations. The local government also took lots of measures to promote the development of ethnic groups. After the founding of the Fengning Manchu autonomous county, the development of ethnic relations hit a new high.Summing up the ethnic relations of the county, the writer holds the opinion that the factors that affect the development of the ethnic relations include politics, economy, old traditions and so on. To solve the problems in the course of the development of ethnic relations, the writer raised some suggestions. These include: to satisfy reasonable needs of all ethnicgroups; to further develop ethnic autonomous system; to cultivate leaders of ethnic groups; and to develop ethnic education.The conclusion of the thesis is although there are several problems we have to handle in the development of ethnic relations, a good and harmonious relation among all ethnic groups is the main stream.
