Yugoslavia is one of the countries that recognized the new China earliest. However, Yugoslavia and China did not establish diplomatic relations until January 2, 1955, and the development of relations was very tortuous. The evolvement of relations between Yugoslavia and China include four periods. The first period was from 1949 to 1955, the two countries didn't establish any diplomatic relations.
