Abstract/Summary:
This thesis covers the writings of Milovan Djilas and Roy Medvedev. Both men are important dissident thinkers within communism today. Residing in separate communist countries, Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union respectively, their critiques have a common thread as to what is wrong with the communist movement. Their critiques on what to do about the ills of communism contain similarities, but also important differences. These differences are a reflection of their personal experiences, but more importantly are indicative of each author's nationalism. This thesis highlights these differences and similarities by comparing and contrasting their writings respective to each other.
