Georgia is beautiful in scenery and poor in natural resources. As a Caucasus mountain country. It consists of Autonomous Republic oAbkhazia, Autonomous Republic of Adzharia, Autonomous State of South Ossetia, two municipalities and nine boroughs. It covers an area of 69.7 thousand km~2 with a population of 5.4375 million. From 1980s to 1990s, under the shock of ex-USSR democratization and separation of the ethnics, Abkhazia proclaimed to be an independent nation in July 1992.Consequently, Georgia has been a divided state. In the following ten years, Georgia Government and the separists of Abkhazia have held many conferences with the aid of the UN. and Russia and U.S. However both would not compromise on the issue of its independent authority. The political and legal status of Abkhazia remains unsolved. This thesis deals with the issue of Abkhazia and tries to seek its reason. Besides, it also analyzes the roles that Russia and the U.S. play in the issue of Abkhazia.This thesis composes four parts.In Preface, it gives a brief introduction on the research meaning if the thesis. In addition, it analyzes the comtemportary state of the field. Finally it provides the related theories.Part 1 is about the originality of the Abkhazia and Abkhazian political and legal status after the O(?)ber Revolution.Part 2 is the reasons contributing to Abkhazia ' s separation and the crisis of Abkhazia.Part 3 gives an analysis of Abkhazia's future prospect based on the statement about Georgia-Russia, Georgia-America and Russia-America relations. Therefore, a more clear-cut opinion about the Abkhazia issue emerges.
