Guangdong Independent Colleges Positioning And Development Strategies

As one of the new things emerge in the reform and development of higher education, to a large extent, Independent colleges objectively solved the problems that public universities cannot meet the rapid expansion of China's higher education because of scale limitation, but due to various reasons,problems such as insufficient funds,debt pressure,unstandardized admission and cultivaton,increasingly competitive sources,lack of teachers,disorder relations among colleges,parent universities and investors also exist.Those problems lead to undefinite orientation and difficulties of formulating development strategy.This paper, study of the work of independent college in Guangdong province, could be divided into seven chapters. ChapterⅠi s an introduction; ChapterⅠexpounds the status of independent colleges in Guangdong Province. ChapterⅢstudies of the problems that independent colleges need to face and their origins,and it points out that there will be a crisis of survival,with increasingly competitive sources, as it faces the fierce competition with the second batch of public universities and public higher technical and vocational schools.Besides, for kinds of historical reasons, independent colleges are hard to be really independent and oriented,which calls for proper orientation and scientific development strategy. ChapterⅣfirst analyses the orientation of independent colleges in Guangdong province by structuring its oriental position, includes position of student employment, position of applied teaching, position of private and independent system,and then discusses how independent colleges in Guangdong, can properly find their orientations. ChapterⅤproposes several suggestions in aspect of development strategy for independent colleges in Guangdong. Chapter six does a case study, and it takes one specific independent college as an example, analyses such problems as orientation and development strategy. Chapter seven gives study conclusion and prospect,and it points out that although independent colleges in Guangdong are facing survival crisis,They still have their living space which lie between the gap of public colleges and higher technical and vocational schools. At last, the writer puts forward that the development of independent colleges in Guangdong province should adhere to the three important strategies——quality,independent and private. Besides,it should make a outlook by observing the situation of independent colleges'development in the vision of the entire China combining with Guangdong's circumstance.
