Reading is an important way for humanity in collecting and processing information, understanding the world, developing of thought, and obtaining the aesthetic experience. Appropriate reading is more essential for the junior high school students who are in the important stage of forming the world outlook and outlook on life. However, the junior high school students reading problem has not been given enough attention, professional analysis lacks relatively, but macroscopically countermeasures aptness of the effectiveness of attention and concrete countermeasures design are more rare.Based on the above background, this research uses the methods of questionnaire survey, case interview, literature law and so on, discussing the extracurricular reading situation, problems and countermeasures of the rural junior high school student, in order to improve the reading situation of the rural junior high school students and to promote their reading knowledge and provide the beneficial enlightenment.This research selects three countryside junior middle school's 408 students in some county of Shandong Province to carry on the questionnaire survey, and has carried on the case interview in some cases. The results show that there are many problems in rural middle school students'extracurricular reading ,such as : lack of initiative and self-discipline; lack of reading time ,books and good reading environment; reading effect is poor, lack of reflections and so on. Based on the systematic analysis of the causes of the problem, and combined with the basis of countryside junior middle school's practical, countermeasures were proposed: according to the curriculum standard to put the extracurricular reading into teaching and working plan; stimulating reading motivation, cultivating reading initiative and self-discipline; opening up the book source to let the student have the book to read; giving full play to the teacher's guidance, optimization book market, to provide students with better mental nourishment.
