Dramatic Works Selected Text In High School Textbooks

Drama, a genre paralleled with novel, prose and poetry, plays an important part in the history of Chinese and foreign literature.It has unique value in the middle school textbooks. In recent years, with the deepening of curriculum reform, there is a phenomenon in the language teaching of middle school:the status of poetry and prose has been strengthened. However, drama has not been given sufficient attention. Novel, pros; and poetry are still the main events. They are far more than drama in the number and proportion. There are serious imbalances in the ratio of the distribution of drama works.Drama is marginalized, and its unique value has not been reflected.Scanning the status of academic research, they still focus on novel, prose and so on. Few scholars concerned about drama. Even if involved, they are mostly based on education level. Very few scholars are doing systematic study on the drama works. Owing to this reason, we investigate four sets of Chinese textbooks in middle school. Analyzed by horizontal comparison, we hope having a comprehensive understanding on the characteristics of the drama works of Chinese textbooks.This dissertation consists of four parts:The first part analyses the unique function of drama in the language teaching of middle school. The second part compares the similarities and differences in the number of drama works, the selection of materials and the system of the texts between four sets of materials. The third part summarizes the characteristics and deficiencies of drama works selection in Chinese textbooks of middle school. We also analyses the factors affecting the drama works. The fourth part proposes several suggestions on how to select and compile the drama works.In addition, the author hopes that the dissertation can be helpful to the teaching material compilers, so that more and more high quality drama works can be elected to middle school textbooks.
