In recent years, as a result of the rapid development of China's economy and the industrialization and urbanization of the country, Chinese people are increasingly interested in going out to be close to the nature. Outdoor sports, as the most nature-and environmental-friendly recreational sports, begins to draw people's wide attention. More and more people spend their holidays and weekends to go out and exercise, which forms a"wave"of outdoor sports. Outdoor sports clubs, as the main organization of outdoor sports, start to draw people's attention. This thesis chooses this subject so as to achieve a full understanding of the outdoor sports clubs in Shanghai, and provide valuable comments and opinions for their development. This thesis uses archives, researches, interviews with experts, and comparison and other means for its study of the outdoor sports clubs in Shanghai. Its conclusions include the following: (1)The Government does not have a clear guideline on who has jurisdiction over the administration of outdoor sports clubs in Shanghai, has not promulgated laws and regulations suitable for the market mechanism, and has not established a market entry mechanism and safety and ambulance system. (2)Currently, there are still a large number of outdoor sports clubs which have not obtained the necessary qualification certification from the relevant authorities, lack professional and qualified guides, and have low registered capital, short life span and small scale. Overall, outdoor sports clubs are of various qualifications and qualities. (3)There are more male members than female members in the outdoor sports clubs in Shanghai. Their age spread is between 20-46 years old. Most of them have advanced education and high income. A significant portion of them are single without children. (4)Members of outdoor sports clubs have little knowledge about outdoor sports and related recreation techniques, nor do they pay enough attention to such knowledge. They are blindly brave in their participation of outdoor sports and pay little attention to environmental issues. Overall, they are still at a very premature stage of outdoor sports.Proposals: (1) The government should take the responsibilities for clear up the way of working, set up the cooperation system mainly focus on sports and tourism. The regulations for the entrance into outdoor sports market and the safety guarantee system should be made ASAP. (2) Outdoor sports club should be oriented based on own professional advantages and individual service in the market. (3) Focus on the promotion of the popularization of outdoor sports and strengthen the dedicated education for the professionals.
